Alcohol Mathematics - Seriously looking for answers
This is a question bothering me since a really long time - ever since I started drinking and because of some asinine reason read the labels on the bottles.
Now there are two main factors affecting the high induced by alcohol
1. The quantity
2. The concentration
Now let me put forth two cases:
Case A - a quarter of vodka (180 ml)
The alcohol content in vodka is approx 33%, thus the alcohol content in 180 ml of vodka is about 60 ml. A quarter makes 3 pegs. Lets say they are mixed with water, and thus total volume being about 600-700 ml.
Case B - a bottle of strong beer (650 ml)
The alcohol content in a strong beer being about 9%, i.e. about 60 ml in a bottle of beer of 650 ml.
Therefore in both cases:
1. Quantity of alcohol - approx 60 ml
2. Total volume - 650 ml.
Both quantity as well as concentration being the same, why is it that 3 large vodkas give a stronger kick that one bottle of strong beer? (Australopethicus, this is especially for you)

now how cud i not reply to this post:) and clear ur doubts
so ur classes start--
1. vodka has 42-43% alcohol-- and not 33%-- so that ways 180 ml of vodka will have like more than 80 ml of alcohol.
2. secondly i believe you are making concentrated pegs of vodka which is giving the kick-- 3 light pegs of vodka will really do no harm-- unless of course you are emotionally high
3. speed of drinking matters-- how fast you complete your vodka pegs affects how much of 'nasha' you have.
4. and you love vodka which explains the high
PS:"Vodka was originally known as "the water of life" from the similar word for water in both Russian and Polish, the countries from where the drink is originated."

There shd be a practical demonstration I must say....complete with a hands on course!....and we could get more variety for experiments sake...!
i didn't even read the entire post.. just looking at the word 'alcohol' made me throw up (i have a really bad hangover from last night)
heh
heh
Anon - correct. About 40%. So ok 1.2 bottles compares to a quarter mathematically. But i'd still say that 1.2 bottles of beer is less of a kick than a quarter of vodka. Its a normal large peg of 60ml that i am talking about. Speed of drinking is the same, since quantity is approx the same. And oh i love vodka and beer both.
